http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Moran <—This is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s character, Colonel Sebastian Moran. He is featured in “The Empty House” as a loyal ”right hand man” to Professor James Moriarty.
As you know, in the show, he is not featured, yet — but Mark Gatiss has said he will be writing “Empty House” and, that means (most likely) that Moran will make an appearance since the original story is about him.
Why are he and Moriarty a ship? Fans love to ship. Were they in a ship in canon? No — although I’m sure fans of Doyle’s back then may have written it to be so and hid it in their diaries as they didn’t have Tumblr back then. ;)
Who came up with this? The fans came up with the ship, Conan Doyle came up with the character.
